White but not nerdy!!
By: Tamim | April 20th, 2008
hey there people, my name is tamim and i will be blogging for zamalek, the first African club on the offside. let’s get straight to business, zamalek is one of the top two teams in egypt, Africa and middle east. established back in 1911 the club enjoyed a lot of ups and downs in its history enjoying a lot of glory both on Egyptian and African level.
zamalek, based on Cairo, was established by some English men for them to practice football ; however, Egyptian took the team years after this and started their own team. zamalek isn’t an Arabic word, it is originally Turkish and it means small houses; the name of the club refer to a very famous and rich neighborhood in cairo. during the 40s the club name changed to farouk, egypt’s king at that time.
the club has a unique and prestigious white jersey with two vertical red stripes. the white color represent peace and the two red lines are taken from egypt flag (i don’t know how but just take like that).
our rivals are “hala merda” officially known as ahly. we hate them because they are red, we hate them because they think they are egypt, we hate them because they have the money so they think they can buy anything (the likes of manchester and inter, you know what i am talking about!!), we hate them because the media and refs are biased to them, they hate us because we are the royal club, we hate them because they are very very very very arrogant based on nothing empirical, we hate them because they really think that they are team no. 3 in this world after they took 3rd place in fifa commercial cup known world club championship!!…the list is endless but i won’t bother you with it now.
Zamalek have won a total of 58 Soccer Titles.

Egyptian Cup: 20
1922, 1932, 1935, 1938, 1941, 1943, 1944, 1952, 1955, 1957, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1962, 1975, 1977, 1979, 1988, 1999, 2002,

2003
however during the last 4 years the club has suffered a lot of problems and didn’t win anything from anything.
players you may know in the team if you watched ghana 2008 are amr zaki, mahmoud fathallah, but this isn’t all. there are a lot of talented stars in the team like shikabala, hazem emam and gamal hamza. also, the team now is being rejuvenated so you may find a lot of new faces.
upcoming events that we should anticipate are african champions leage round 16’s match against interclub from angola, battle for second place in the domestic league and of course the cup final against enppi at 25th of may.
that’s enough for now, i will keep you updated with the club news
NB: if any ahly fan want to respond and can put his thought in written form, we are in a democratic country, let me know so we can start an ahly bolg.
FORZA ZAMALEK

Awesome. Welcome to the Offside. Glad to have the first African club involved, and I hope there’s more to come, including El Ahly.
