Ahly 2 -Zamalek 1: Unforced errors!!!

By: Tamim | July 22nd, 2008

to be lucky is something usual , but to monopolize luck for more than four years then this weird. while i was watching the game, i asked myself a lot why does luck doesn’t want to leave for one match. i admit that ahly played very good and presented fantastic teamwork; however, we played very good also but it is always these little tiny moments that decides where the match’s result is heading to.

we lost 2-1. goal scorers were Flavio and Ahmed hassan for ahly and Gamal hamza for zamalek.

we deserved at least a draw, our performance improved a lot since last year but yet we lost as usual because of defense mistakes, the least thing that i can say about them is silly or stupid. in the first goal, the ball was moahmed abd allah beside the corner flag, he had many options but choose none of them and gave the ball to gilberto as simple as gilberto wouldn’t have ever imagined, he took the ball and crossed it to flavio who had no difficulty to score after the defense where loose naturally because we had the ball.

the second goal, was a free-kick from out of the box, the wall just scattered when Ahmed hassan was shooting so it found its way to the back of the net easily.

The match:

the match itself wasn’t as exciting or as beautiful as expected , because it is the first match of the season and the players aren’t at their top form. we started the match defensively and aimed at owning the midfield with only two strikers up the front but no play maker to assist them so agogo and hamza and to go down, get the ball and start the attack by themselves which gave ahly’s defense the chance to re-position themselves and eventually spoil the attack. and just when the game was fairly equal and both team were giving their best, mohamed abd allah showed us his stupid mistake!!!!.

in the second half, we started attacking and we were good and finally our efforts were rewarded by a fabulous goal from gamal hamza from an out of the box shot from the sniper gamal hamza. while the fans were celebrating ahly scored again which was very frustrating.

however, after ahly’s second goal we put our best performance i have seen since 2007 cup final. we owned the game and nearly scored from ahmed magdy’s shot.

players ratings

Abd el wahed: wasn’t tested much but he dealt well with the balls that came to him. both goals weren’t his fault at all. i only want him to stop smiling after a goal is scored at us because it personally provokes me!!!. (7/10)

Ahmed magdy: played well in defense, and prevented a couple of dangerous chances. when he played at midfield he was very good and almost scored, maybe we should re-think about his position in field. (7/10)

Wesam el abdy: he was great and prevented emad meteb from even getting the ball. please don’t leacve us!! (8/10)

Mahmoud fathallah: played well but the second goal was his fault after he left the wall broken. he also could have passed the ball faster than that in counter attacks (5/10)

Osama hassan: i didn’t even notice he was playing!! (3/10)

Mohamed abd allah: screw you!!!.(2/10)

Ayman abd el aziz: great performance from our best signing yet. he was a man in the field and made the midfield his territory. great addition to our team, just if he is a little calmer and less physical in his playing he would be the best. (9/10)

Ahmed abd el raouf: he played very good at some parts and was pathetic in others.however, he is good at defense but when it come to attack he should pass the ball really!!. (6/10)

Mohamed abu el ela: didn’t impress, please pass the ball faster than that. (4/10)

Gamal hamza: fabulous, best player for us but he could have used a couple of chances better. the only negative thing about him is that he always exaggerate in fouls which lead referees not to whistle for fouls at all. (9/10)

Agogo: i can’t judge him from this match. it is his first in egypt and he probably didn’t develop chemistry with other players. if he go some assistance from a play maker, he would have scored. however, he showed that he is a powerful and fast striker. (6/10)

Notes:

-not a bad game as a beginning but we must win the next derby on Sunday or else.

- we could have used Abd El Halim ali in attack beside Agogo, behind them Gamal hamza. this would have gave us more chance and force ahly’s defense to stay back.

-Ahmed Ghanem sultan should play in the right wing, he is the best we have now.

now we have the super cup next Sunday, guess against who????………..Ahly!!!!

a MUST win game.

You guys gonna lose again and again and again… you just have to subdue and tilt your head to our power. How many times we have smoke yalls for you to understand that there is no way… I guess this game will prove that to you one more time. 2 games in one week will be a nice spank. Mark my words 5-2 for elahly!
